The Great Down Pillow Incident

Catchy title, isn’t it?

This morning I while I was downstairs having breakfast, Holly (the puppy we are training to be a service dog), snuck upstairs and I didn’t notice. Normally, this wouldn’t have been a big deal, but I didn’t realize that my wife was in the shower and wasn’t able to supervise Holly. Being a ten-month-old pup, Holly still requires LOTS of supervision.

When I came upstairs, I knew something was up when I noticed that Emmet (our five year old black lab) had a bunch of white feathers stuck to him. I walked into the bedroom and was greeted by a horrifying site: the top of our bed was covered in four inches of white down feathers. Holly was not in the middle of it, but I could tell she was our culprit because she was laying on the floor next to the bed and was also covered in white feathers.

Apparently, while she was unsupervised she snuck upstairs and shredded the small down filled neck pillow that my wife keeps on the bed. She took great joy in seeing the feathers fly because when I found the remains of the pillow, it was completely devoid of any feathers.

Needless to say, I’ve been vacuuming up feathers all day!

Oh well.
