If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a geek, or if you prefer, a nerd. I work as a Systems Engineer for large technology oriented company and work with K-12 schools, school districts, colleges, and universities around the area.
I’m a husband. I met my wife, Melissa, by being introduced by mutual friends. They connected us via Facebook. We spent the next three months getting to know each other only through Facebook messages and email before we finally agreed to meet each other in person. The rest is, as they say, history.
My most important job is a relatively new one to me. I’m a dad — technically a step-dad — to two beautiful children. I had never been father before those two precious gifts came into my life and now I’m going to school conferences, watching their soccer games, and helping with homework. I couldn’t be happier!
Animals have been, and still are, a big part of my life. I’ve had many pets over the years, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, mice, iguanas, fish, horses, donkeys, goats, and llamas. At the moment, I just have one dog and one cat.
You may have also noticed that I like photography. I get countless hours of enjoyment photographing a little bit of everything. Not surprisingly, animals are one of my favorite subjects. I also enjoy photographing airplanes, ships, trains, and lighthouses. I post all of my photos to Flickr, an online photo sharing service that I’ve participated in for several years now. You can seem my Flickr photostream here. I currently shoot with Nikon camera gear.
In my spare time, I volunteer for Helping Paws, a fantastic non-profit organization that trains service dogs for individuals with disabilities. Over the years I’ve been directly involved with the life of several Helping Paws dogs, including Daisy Mae, Emmet, Holly, Jordan, Joy, and Watson. I served for more than five years on the Board of Directors for Helping Paws and provide advice on technology for the organization. I also designed and maintained the website a few years, but I’ve handed off the baton on that one due to lack of time.
I’m interested in tons of things and I’ve been lucky enough to do lots of things in my lifetime. This blog is reflection of some of the things I’ve done over the years.
