Joy was a retired Helping Paws service dog. She worked for over seven years for a woman with ALS. She was retired in October of 2009 when an autoimmune disorder destroyed her retinas and robbed her of her vision. I adopted her shortly after that and transitioned her from a working service dog to a retired dog with a disability of her own. She made the transition beautifully!
Her time with me was short though. In April of 2010 she died suddenly of a ruptured hemangiosarcoma tumor that had been undiagnosed. She died in my arms. The whole story of that day can be found here.
